For drums, tabs and "musical notation" are hardly different. The only difference is that our tabs can eliminate unneeded lines as we go along, simplifying matters. Now let's tab it out:ī|o-o-oo-oo-o-Notice something? That's right, they look nearly identical. So when you tab out a drum track, it looks almost exactly like the staff. Instead of everything being on a totally separate line, they use the lines and spaces. But since on our drums, all we're doing is knowing WHEN to hit a surface (as opposed to when and how long), this limitation of tabs is fairly irrelevant.įurthermore, the musical staff is simply tabs condensed. On something like guitar, this can be a HUGE thing because you can sustain notes and that doesn't really come across on a tab. The only REAL difference between the two is that tabs indicate duration spatially, the staff does it notationally. Why? Well, here's going to be a bit of a brain-breaker, so get ready.įor drums, the staff and tabs are nearly the same thing.Ĭry all you want, but it's true. Take that measure and play it on the drums and it'll be completely different. It'll be the same melody, because all instruments play the same notes as written out on a staff. Sing it, play it on a piano, on a guitar, on a violin, a harp, a trombone, whatever. It doesn't matter what instrument you play that on, it's going to sound the same (basically). Drums don't have this issue, because drums do not use the musical staff in the way that any other instrument does. The reason those are a problem is that the way they are written is completely different than musical notation. The problem is that drum tabs seem to be victim of the far more justified criticisms of guitar and bass tabs. The path to mastery is through understanding the theory behind how it works. Embrace time signatures and tempo dynamics. Know your polyrhythms, your common times, your tuplets and dotted quarter notes. No matter what comes after this paragraph, know that learning musical notation in all its forms is key to being a better musician. Let me start off by saying that if you're a new musician, drum tabs are a crutch that you WILL need to learn to break yourself from. So allow me to take a moment to defend this poor, misunderstood, and incredibly useful tool. The reasons they're "bad" aren't exactly unfounded, but I think they take a bit of a left turn and now are left with a stigma that they don't deserve. I hear a lot of hate for drum tabs on these here internets.

Since then, El Cid was adopted as a part of the team as a Navy goat and a tradition was born. Navy mascot, El Cid, debuted at the 4th Army-Navy game, which the Navy won 6-3. Patti reports her father spent the next 20 years telling stories of his life in the Catskills. "We will make new traditions," he told his family. The SYDA Foundation, a not-for-profit tied to promoting Sidda Yoga ideas, purchased the resort and converted it into an ashram. In 1986, Patti's father, Benjamin, was 72, and Hotel Brickman like many other Catskill resorts, was dwindling in popularity. "The compassion this man had for this poor person taught me how to be a better person." When Patti told the employee that he had to leave, he responded, "When he is finishing eating, I will ask him to leave." Patti said that that encounter taught her humility. One evening, Patti walked into the kitchen and realized that one of the kitchen staff was feeding a homeless man. Patti recalls fondly the diversity of the staff, which included college students and seasonal workers from the Southern states and from Central and South America. When she was 26, she took over running the kitchen, supervising at times over 200 staff members. In 1965, 15-year old Patti Posner Daboosh began working in the resort's office. Along with adult activities, the hotel had a nursery, a day camp for children, and a teen program. Hotel Brickman had 300 rooms that accommodated over 600 adults and children. The Brickman's daughter Anna and her husband Joseph Posner and their sons eventually took over the ownership. Soon friends and relatives were coming up to the Brickman to escape the city's summers, and the farm took on boarders. As Abraham had worked on the farms for the czars, they purchased farmland in South Fallsburg. Soon after emigrating from Russia in 1908, Abraham and Molly Brickman realized that New York City, with its tenements, crowded streets, and poor air, was not for them. Sullivan, Ulster, and nearby counties offered working class Jewish New Yorkers, mostly Ashkenazi Jewish immigrants, cheap land on which to build farms, bungalows, and hotels. Because of anti-Semitism, particularly in the 1940s, '50s, and '60s, such choices were few. Like many New York City dwellers before the advent of air conditioning, Jews looked for places that would provide a respite from the summer heat. The popularity of the Catskills starts at the beginning of the 20th century. But there were many smaller resorts and cottages too. Famous hotels of the area included The Concord, Grossinger's, and Kutshers. Borscht, a soup associated with immigrants from Eastern Europe, was a colloquialism for Jewish. She and others have many a story to share of their time in the Catskills, often called the Borscht Belt. "This was our Camelot, a place that has vanished but still has a place in the hearts and minds by the thousands whose life were shaped by this shared experienced," said Patty Beardley Roker, a former staff member at the Concord. The heyday of the Catskills have ended, but the memories of those resorts remain with those who shared those summers as staff and guests. You think kids want to come with their parents and take fox-trot lessons? Trips to Europe, that's what the kids want. In the classic movie "Dirty Dancing," Jack Weston's character Max Kellerman, the owner of the fictional Catskill resort, laments the changes down the road. The one drawback is that it was a bit warm at times, but no blister issues or anything notable. It is a unique looking upper that I think is a highlight of the shoe. The combination gives a locked in sensation while still allowing for plenty of splaying and swelling on long runs. It then has a more durable outer surface that gives some stability and rigidity in the right areas. It feels like it is hugging the foot to lock it in, but is very flexible. This inner surface is soft and adaptable to the foot while still being breathable. It has a very comfortable mesh underlay that almost feels foam-like to the touch. I wear a men's size 9 and have a typical foot width and would not want to size down. Nathan: The Panthea fit is mostly true to size, with some extra length which has become a bit expected with Reebok shoes. There is an internal heel counter, but the heel collar is cushioned enough that I did not notice it. The heel has a little extra room, but fits securely thanks to additional reinforcements around the outside of the mesh. If you tighten them down, the upper snugs up quickly. The forefoot is normal to snug, the midfoot is fairly normal and the heel fits normal to slightly wide. The fit is fairly normal, yet fits secure due to additional reinforcement in the engineered mesh from the midfoot forward on the medial and lateral sides. Matt: The Reebok Panthea fairly true to size with a little extra length in my normal size 10 (men's). I potentially would like to see it a little thinner though. The upper is a little on the thick side, but does breathe well enough for all runs. The forefoot is normal width also with the locked down upper. The midfoot is a little narrow with the snug reinforced upper holding it. The heel is snug with semi rigid heel counter and a good amount of padding, also with the retrocurve along the achilles to keep pressure off of it. It is snug and performance like all around and virtually wastes no space. Versatility is the name of the game for the Panthea, an exciting new Reebok debut.ĭavid: The fit of the Reebok Panthea is locked in and does fit true to size. My shoe of the year last year ended up being the Forever Floatride Energy, which has their Forever Energy Foam, but the Panthea (as well as the beloved Run Fast and a few other models) sport the Floatride + Foam, which is a PEBAX blend that makes for a cushioned and responsive ride at any pace. Nathan: Reebok has struck gold with their current midsole foams. A do-it-all trainer that has flown under the radar, this shoe be on your try on list for those interested in a Reebok shoe. The Floatride foam provides plenty of responsive cushioning when the pace picks up but plenty of protection for long miles. Matt: The Reebok Panthea is a bouncy and versatile lightweight trainer featuring a comfortable upper, a smooth toe off and plenty of cushioning for mileage. The fit is very locked in and contributes to the versatility of this shoe. The Floatride PEBAX based foam is wonderful for creating the responsive ride with just enough cushion. David: The Reebok Panthea is a lightweight performance trainer that is quick, nimble, and sturdy enough for daily mileage. What is the maximum size of an output video I can process? What is the maximum size of an output video I can get? If you upscale a video from SD to HD, it will take about 0.4 seconds for each frame. For a video from HD to 8K, it typically takes 2-3 seconds for each frame. How long will it take to process a video? Then with a single click on the process button, they will all be processed in sequence. All of them can be assigned with different settings including output size, upsample scale, output format, model utilized and etc. Sure you can! You can load several videos simultaneously into Video Enhance AI. Can I do batch processing on several videos? Yes, your license exists independently of your operating system. Stay up to speed on what's happening in sports by subscribing here. Since he left the NHL, Peel has recently gotten back social media, which you can imagine got fans going, but also keeps thinking about the incident. This is an excerpt from The Buzzer, which is CBC Sports' daily email newsletter. “And John Hynes, who is a tremendous human being and a coach, he came out and he goes ‘Timmy I know you didn’t mean that,’ and I go ‘John I didn’t… you know I was always fair and tried to make it a fair and safe environment for hte players, and a fair game for the players’ and I go ‘I’m so sorry’ and I could tell he felt bad because he could see how upset I was and how terrible I felt.” I said to him ‘I made a terrible mistake, my words came out wrong’,” Peel told Poile. [David} Poile had already left the building, so (I was on phone) with him and I explained to him that was not my intent. I turned to the (other refs) in the dressing room and I went ‘I may get fired tonight.”Īnd later, Peel had to confront the Predators franchise about what had happened. I didn’t even remember it until I watched it. “So I hear my phone vibrating on the corner and I go pick it up and it’s my boss, Steven… the first thing I thought was ‘did we miss a goal?’ And he said ‘we’ve got a big problem’ and he tells me. But he did get the boot and recalled on the show how it happened when his boss phoned him. Several players were shocked to see him get fired, seeing that he was known to be a tough but good referee around the league. I made a tremendous error in judgement by choosing the words that I did.”Ĭlearly, while it still sounds hard for Peel to admit, he regrets the mistake he made. I didn’t want to get a penalty against Nashville, and I just made a mistake. “So I think it was my defence mechanism kicking in, more of an embarrassment thing to a guy that I really respected a lot in Kelly Sutherland and I said ‘yeah it wasn’t much, I wanted to get a penalty - which wasn’t the case at all. We take a lot of pride in the penalties that we call to make sure we call good NHL penalties and there’s nothing worse than calling a weak penalty against a team and the other team scores on the power-play. “I was working with a veteran referee in Kelly Sutherland, who is one of the best in the NHL, and I think it was more my defence mechanism when I went over to the box. But as soon as I throw my arm up, I’m like ‘jeez, I didn’t think he pushed him down.’ I didn’t see it the way I thought that I saw it. When I called that penalty, I think it was Arvidsson that tripped the Detroit player and when I threw my arm up, I was in the neutral zone and I honestly thought Arvidsson tripped him. “But in this case, there had only been one penalty called in the game and it was against Detroit. This is the breakdown from what he told Daily Face-Off: “For people to understand as a referee, normally if you’ve called five or six penalties against one team, I think everybody knows ‘if you can find one against the other team to keep them happy then that’s what we do,” Peel told DFO Rundown hosts Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli. On Tuesday, Peel opened up to Daily Face-Off about the incident that got him fired from the NHL and shared his perspective on what took place that night that quickly went viral on social media. He did not miss out on a whole lot though he did not get the goodbye he was expecting. While fans commanded the NHL for sticking its grounds, Peel was set to retire and officiate his last game on April 24. After Viktor Arvidsson was called for tripping Jon Merrill, Peel was heard on the FOX broadcast saying, “It wasn’t much, but I wanted to get a fuckin’ penalty against Nashville early in the …” before the audio cut out. Comments made were caught on a hot mic and it was determined that it was Peel. Back in March, the National Hockey League announced that referee Tim Peel will no longer work NHL games “now or in the future” after his comments about a Nashville penalty were heard on a hot mic during Tuesday’s Red Wings - Predators game. While the game features 16 maps, they're not original as they're taken from 2011's Modern Warfare 2, even though they have been given a visual upgrade and some tweaks. While things have fared better for fans of the series multiplayer, there have been pain points for the community at launch with wonky spawn points inside game modes like Hardpoint and missing popular game modes like Gun Game as well as Gun Fight. The idea of Open Combat missions also didn't sit well with many, which removed a lot of the tense, action-heavy set pieces that the Call of Duty campaigns have been known for. Unfortunately, the campaign left fans largely disappointed due to a good chunk of it feeling like filler relying heavily on content taken from Warzone and is ultimately a very short, four-hour campaign. Things didn't start off well after fans got early access to the Modern Warfare 3 campaign, which had plenty of excitement leading up to its launch promising a showdown between Task Force 141 and the return of iconic Modern Warfare villain Vladimir Makarov. The open world came off more as filler to pad the game's overall runtime thanks to constantly respawning enemies, uninspired boss fights, and collectibles that didn't always feel like they were worth the effort needed to find them.Įven though the Call of Duty franchise continues to be a cash cow for Activision, Modern Warfare 3 really stumbled more than usual at launch. Many players also grew tired of the open-world segments set between the more focused dungeon-style levels. In addition, the protagonist Major Sergey "P-3" Nechayev wasn't received particularly well, commonly leaning on curse words or clichéd dialogue that is typically delivered at odd or out-of-place times during the story. Worse yet, the Xbox version of Atomic Heart suffered from technical and performance issues related to its framerate as well as a variety of general gameplay bugs. While the premise may be interesting, most players and critics agreed that it didn't reach the heights of BioShock, as combat and progression systems ultimately felt underwhelming when compared to other games in the genre. Set in an alternate reality Soviet Union in the 1950s, players face off against robotic and biomechanical experiments that have turned rogue at a location known as Facility 3826. Many programs do some things much better, but for some things (mainly 2D Motion Graphics) After Effects is absolutely unbeatable, and in fact no 2D Motion Designer uses anything else, despite the horrible support from Adobe, the laggy performance and the slue of bugs with each release. While Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign (and Premiere Pro if you don't need Dynamic Link) have compelling cheaper alternatives, After Effects is perhaps the only software from Adobe that has no competition as no other software in existence does what After Effects does. First because I used it, second because I have 10 years of experience in the field of motion design and I acquired quite the experience with these tools. Motion is not nearly as advanced as After Effects, and believe me. I think the same for FCP and Motion but a lot less features still and some plugins are just not there. I think Affinity it’s getting close to PSD feature parity, usability experience is already way past above Adobe. Ask the community how to go about those two basic features? I get told that Motion is a very advanced software and that I shouldn’t think about it like After Effects (I’m being open minded, but it’s hard to take that since even FCP has the concept of precomps, they call it compound clips). Want to create a precomp inside a comp in motion? You can’t. However, importing a Motion timeline as a precomp clip in FCP? you can’t, either pre-render it or go the plug-in way but parameter-less (this pollutes ALL projects). Motion serves to FCP functionality (Motion being the effects render engine for them and all) and as an user is quite easy to do quite the complex stuff: titles, generators, transitions, etc as a plugin to use in FCP with HUD display and inspector parameters. I try often to do things with FCP and Motion in the hopes of doing a full switch one day, however it’s not quite there. Lumetri presets now display a frame from your current sequence and thumbnails for Lumetri presets in the Effects panel dynamically update, providing a preview of the preset.ĭefinitely Adobe has amazing integration between those two. On the other hand, Premiere Pro is gaining Dynamic Lumetri Previews. There are also changes to reset functionality, allowing users to reset all adjustments for Color, Audio, and Transforms. In addition, users can tap a video clip with audio to separate the audio clip from the video. Users can now tap a video clip on the timeline to bring up the context menu on iOS to split, duplicate, or delete a clip. Premiere Rush is also gaining a new timeline Context Menu. The update to Premiere Rush brings enhanced speed and optimization on desktops using the M1 chip, such as the MacBook Air, the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini, so users can work faster and get more done. The Premiere Pro plug-in architecture allows you. Audio sample editing, support for VST audio plugins (plug-in) and 5.1 surround audio tracks. The application provides high-quality video editing of 4K resolution and above, with 32-bit color, both in RGB and YUV color space. Premiere Rush is Adobe's video editing app designed for easy creativity on the go. Adobe Premiere Pro is a professional non-linear video editing software. Adobe has today released a major update for Premiere Rush, adding full support for the M1 chip, alongside a range of small updates to Premiere Rush and Premiere Pro. |
